I was introduced to volleyball in high school and I loved the sport immediately. I trained with the University of Guelph while in high school and left half way through my final year of Grade 13 to join the National Team in Vancouver. I played on both the Senior and Junior teams for 2 years.
I left Team Canada when it disbanded for a period of time to play for the University of Hawaii- Manoa in Honolulu. While playing for the Rainbow Wahines, I won two division 1 National Championships. Upon returning to Canada, I played in several masters tournaments with some of my former teammates on Team Canada and then took up coaching when my son entered high school. I coached both boys and girls in high school and club volleyball while living in the lower mainland.
Relocating to Squamish in 2022 gave me another opportunity to give back to the growing volleyball community in the Sea to Sky.
Coach Bal- Assistant Coach U18 Girls
I was always involved in volleyball as a kid starting at 11, until I wasn’t a kid, then for some reason it disappeared for about 25 years. It started when I watched my siblings playing. I wanted to play better, jump higher, be a better athlete than them all. I played for UCC (now TRU) in Kamloops, played some beach along the way while in college then life came along.
I have been involved with SVC from week two (because I actually didn’t know it was a thing) when Coach Veronika asked if I wanted to come help out. Since then, I have helped out in development nights, High School and also grass volleyball league.
I feel very strongly about establishing relationships and learning how different kids operate in order to get the best out of their training. Culture, teamwork, and respect are values I expect all kids at SVC to demonstrate.
