Coach Guntis- Head Coach U15 Girls
I received a black lab coat award in my senior year of high school, and sadly realized that chemistry might not be a viable hobby. I turned to volleyball and discovered a lifetime passion for the sport. I was a fixture in the competitive North Vancouver high school volleyball scene, where I coached both at the club and high school level. After a 10 year hiatus to raise my daughter, I returned to coaching. The 2026 season will be my 4th year with the Squamish Volleyball Club, and 19th as a volleyball coach. I have worked with beginners and elite athletes at U14 to U18 age groups and am a certified Advanced Development Coach.
Some coaching achievements:
2x North Shore Champions (Gr.10), 2x Vancouver & District Champions (Gr.10), 1x Provincial Champions (Gr.10)

My background in volleyball began in grade 5 and continued through high school, club, and ultimately at the university level with Brock University.
I am now in my 5th year coaching with the Squamish Volleyball Club, where I apply my technical knowledge, leadership, and team-focused approach to developing young athletes.
I emphasize building strong fundamentals, fostering teamwork, and creating a positive environment where players can grow both on and off the court.

I blame volleyball for my day job as a professor and academic administrator. I played club volleyball in Ontario and then traveled west to play at Trinity Western University, where I played for five years as a middle and right side.
In my playing career, I captained the team with awards including Provincial All Star and Academic All Canadian. During summers, I travelled BC coaching volleyball camps. In my fifth year, I started a graduate degree and went on to a PhD in music and philosophy in London. I arrived in Squamish in 2013. I started helping out with the high school team when I arrived, and when my eldest daughter hit grade 7, I got more into coaching, first helping grow the school team and then coaching at SVC. I love to see the development of the sport in the Sea to Sky, and seeing the development of athletes. I have two daughters playing in the club.
