A word from Ava- one of our grads

Hi my name’s Ava, I was a Libero with Squamish Volleyball Club.

I joined the Squamish Volleyball Club in grade 9. This spring I played my last club game having finished the U18 season and graduated from high school. Now that I am done with my SVC journey, I can confidently say I learned a lot that I am taking with me past the court.

In volleyball whether you’re a Libero (like me) or any other position, you mess up a lot. There’s no time to dwell on the past because within seconds you’ll have to reset for the next point.

​Take the opportunity to stay positive and lift up your teammates. Life works the same way, you can’t spend your time thinking about your mistakes when there’s more opportunities to come. volleyball taught me to shake off mistakes, be positive and lift up others and always keep moving forward. Let your mistakes teach you, not tear you down.
